Dear Parents & Caregivers,

The April school holidays are just around the corner and it will be important that your child continues to practise his/her English daily. A great way to do this is to have your child participate in activities that allows your child to speak English with other children. A ‘play date’ with an English speaking friend is always a good idea. Also, Parnell Trust runs a holiday programme right here at school. There are also a range of other holiday activities on offer throughout Auckland. More information about dates, locations and cost can be found on their website: http://www.eventfinda.co.nz/children-kids-holidays/events/auckland

Some include ‘Ports of Auckland Boat Tours’, adults $5, children free. Discover ‘Aladdins’ Cave’ at the Auckland Sky Tower or ‘We are Stars’ at the Stardome Observatory & Planetarium.

Colour-in 'The Jungle Book'  - Saturday 16 April - Saturday 30 April, during library hours
Choose a scene from our special edition of Rudyard Kipling’s 'The Jungle Book' to colour in and pin up on our wall. Suitable for ages 7+.

Write your own animal fable  - Saturday 16 April - Saturday 30 April 
Invent your own animal fable or fractured fairy tale. Tell us a tale about how you think the lamb got its woolly coat, or how the fantail got its tail. You might win a prize! Suitable for ages 7+.

Scavenger hunt  - Saturday 16 April - Saturday 30 April, during library hours. 

Find the wild animals hidden around the library.

Pizza challenge 
Complete the pizza wheel by reading 7 books and then go to any Hell store and redeem it for a free 333 Hell Pizza! (Conditions apply). You can keep going after the holidays, until you reach the 7 book target!  

Sock puppet theatre - Saturday 16 April, 11am - 12 noon 
See our puppet theatre in action and then turn an ordinary sock into your own extraordinary sock puppet! (BYO socks). Places are limited so booking is recommended. Parent helpers are welcome! Suitable for ages 7+.

Franken-zines - Monday 18 April, 11am - 12 noon 
Create your own mini-magazine featuring mixed-up storybook characters, or pick your own theme. Ever wanted to turn a dinosaur into a duck, or a king into a kite? We’ll show you how. Suitable for ages 5+

Story scramble  - Tuesday 26 April, 11am - 12 noon 
A topsy-turvy storytelling event. What would’ve happened if Goldilocks had met only one of the three bears, or Little Red Riding Hood came across a lion instead of a wolf? Come and find out! Suitable for ages 5+
