International Food & Cultural Festival - this Friday!

The countdown has begun, just a few days to go! Make sure you don’t miss the  International Food & Cultural Festival being held this Friday from 5-8pm. Time to enjoy some relaxed family fun, delicious food plus magical music & dancing. This event will run rain or shine! (either in the hall or in the courtyard).

$5 food tickets are available now! Buy your tickets early. You can buy them from the school office, the Friday Café, online at http://purchases.parnell.school.nz  and on the night too. There will be 21 countries offering delicious, authentic dishes for you to choose from. 

A $5 food ticket could buy you:
  • A Christmas inspired smorgasbord from Sweden or Danish aebleskiver (pancakes)
  •  Satay and rice from Indonesia or fresh Vietnamese spring rolls
  • Ceviche from Peru or a special smoothie from Malawi
  •  English Yorkshire Puddings with beef & gravy or special sausages from Czech Republic
  • German Goulash or Sushi from Japan
  • NZ ‘hangi’ or Chop suey from the Pasifika table
Plus lots more! Desserts will also be available from some tables (later in the evening). Some will require a $5 food ticket, others just a $2 coin.

The entertainment on the night is free (this is included in your $5 ticket) and will start around 5:45pm. A special stage will be set up. Come and watch:

  •  Dances from Iran, China, Indonesia and Scotland.
  • A friendship dance choreographed by Anna McRae
  •  A song played on a traditional stringed instrument from Indonesia called ‘Sasando’
  •   Piano playing from some talented PDS students
  • A magic show + lots more!
There will also be face-painting & henna plus spot prizes for the best-dressed! Remember, rain or shine this event will take place this Friday.
